Boiken Apple

The variety is German and dates from around in 1828. Has been recommended for planting in Jutland 1895. Boiken was recommended from the danish Fruit Variety Study from 1916 to 1922 and has been distributed to peasants up to 1921.

The tree will have a broad crown. Fertility is early and plentiful. Good pollinators are eg "Bodil Neergaard" and "Cox's Pomona." The fruit is of medium size, slightly irregular, flat round. Perhaps the most fertile variety in domestic apples. Thinning almost a necessity. Picked in October. Can be stored until May-June.
