Aport apple
The Aport apple was brought to Kazakhstan by immigrants from the Voronezh province of Russia in the mid-1850s
Scions for this tree was taken home from Kazakhstan.
During the Soviet era, the area around Almaty in Kazakhstan was an important center of apple production, especially for the variety Aporta.
The tree grows strong and healthy. The apple is somewhat susceptible to scab.
The fruit is large, with greenish-yellow ground color and dark topcoat. The flesh is coarse and loose, sweet with a little acid.
Ripens late September and can be saved into January. Can be used as eating apples and cooking apples. |
