Holsteiner Cox Apple

Holsteiner Cox is a seedling of Cox Orange found in 1918 in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

The tree grows rapidly. It is only slightly sensitive to scab, but susceptible to mildew and canker. It is a high yielding variety that is recommended as a variety of organic cultivation, because the tree is healthy.

Flowering is late. The variety is triploid, and unsuitable as a pollinator.

The fruit is large. The flesh is firm and juicy. The taste slightly tart and with a strong aroma. Reminiscent of Cox Orange, but is more coarse in the flesh.

Picking time is mid-September. The apple has good durability and can be saved to January. Optimal eating quality in Week 49 - 50.

Holsteiner Cox is an ideal apple variety for the garden that gives a high yield of apples with good eating quality.
