Grossherzog Friedrich von Baden apple
The apple was developed in 1894 by the Grand Ducal palace gardener Fießer in Baden-Baden from the seeds of the apple Bismarck crossed with White Winterkalvill, and is named after the reigning Grand Duke of Baden. The breeder described the new variety in the first pomological Monatshefte, 1898, after which the apple from Baden-Baden became widespread.
The fruits are large to very large. The color is first yellow later lemon yellow with pale red with red dots on the sunny side. The flesh is yellowish / white to white, juicy and loose with a pleasant tart aromatic flavor.
Can be used from September to October. |
