Astrakan Gyllenkroks Apple
This good Astrakhan black has probably been grown in Sweden since the mid-1800s. Some pomologer consider it likely, that the variety has arisen on the "Gyllenkrokske property" in Skåne. Others believe to know that it was found by Fogelvik in Tryserums parish in Kalmar province, and is named after Baron Gyllenkrok who stayed at the property around 1850.
The tree is relatively weak growing, healthy and hardy. Coming early in bearing and is usually fruitful.
The fruit is medium-sized, high built round or nearly round. The color is beautiful with pink stripes on green-yellow bottom. The skin is thin and fat glistening. The flesh is fine, loose and juicy and tart taste of wine.
Can be picked late August and several times, as the aging process are a little uneven. Are an excellent summer apple.
