Wagener Apple
This is one of many fine apple varieties that originated in New York State. In 1791, seeded George Wheeler of Penn Yan, New York, apple seed in his orchard which produced several fine trees. In 1796 bought Abraham Wagener the orchard and the apple today are wearing his name.
It is a very fine household apple and an excellent eating apple too. The fruit is medium to large with bright pinkish-red color on a pale yellow ground color. The yellowish-white flesh is firm, fine-grained, and very juicy with a pleasant taste. Ripens in October.
The tree is resistant to scab.
