The apple probably originated in south-west England and was popular in Devon and Somerset from before 1900.
Young trees grow vigorously. Good resistance to diseases.
The variety ripens early, at the end of September, and can help to extend the season.
The juice is bittersweet. It is a Vintage variety that can be used alone or mixed with other varieties.
